Bali Bombers Executed.

Above is the picture of persons who responsible for killing 202 unsuspecting victims in unprovoked attack in Bali 2002. Sure, they have an issues with theirs so called enemy, but to attack an unarmed tourists just to get their massage across is an act of a cowards.

They have shown no remorse and even telling the world that they would do it again given the chance because it is theirs dream be become a martyr. Well, as far as I know is that it will remain as a dream because they did not die as martyr. They were punished for the terrible crime they committed, and if they know Islam as they claim to know very well, there will be more punishment waiting for them in the after life.

World would never be short of people who willing to commit suicide in the name of God. I blame it on certain leader or imam who so willingly manipulated the faith of other to do the bidding of their psychopath misdeed with promise of heaven when the basic teaching of Islam itself forbidden suicide.

Up until now the Jihad is the most misunderstood concept in Islam and these suicide bomber contribute more harm to Islam then their enemy.

Ex Gratia

Our government is a generous one. They paid over 10 millions to the judges who they didn't sacked ages ago and it is just as an act of kindness. I wouldn't feel as much discontent as I am now if it was to admit their past mistake, but then again, a public apologize would be much cheaper.

A minister, in parliament keep insisting it is not equal to an admission of guilt as the government never did anything wrong therefore have nothing to apologize for. The judges were given pension and qualified for all the benefit as they were only asked to resign, not sacked.

What really baffled me most is why bring up the issues in the first place if there is nothing wrong with it, and more importantly, why pay them now.

On the other hand we have an ex soldier, who fight for our country against the communist but get nothing. Even the communist who surrender at that time are given more privilege then he is. Captain (Rtd) Mukhtiar Singh Sodagar Singh have been appealing for his pension for 30 years now(read here for more), I think he is entitle not just for the pension he deserve but also a lot more. If our government can afford to pay 5 millions to a judge who currently also receive a pension to show kindness, it is only fair if they do the same for those who put their life on the line so that we can have what we have today.

KWSP

Government announced that from January 2009 employee contribution for EPF would be reduce to 8%. This, according to some high ranking officer who made the decision is to provide people with more money to spend.

Come on here, is a mere 3% of monthly income saved from EPF would increase the spending power of the middle income group? I think not. Someone who earn RM2000 a month would be getting extra RM2 a day to spend, but if that money is saved it will come to RM720 in just a year and with some interest imagine how much it will come to when that person retired. Think of a person who earn less, or someone with family to support , it is not helping at all. I'm sure those who actually feel different with just 3% of what they earn monthly is doing well enough to pass this crisis and it would be foolish to spend the saving just because your government say you can.

I think the government should focus on how to bring down the price of goods and to avoid inflation. Giving back our money to spend is not the answer. It is a clear sign that the government are helpless and have run out of idea to solve the problem.

Barack Obama

I was watching live result on America Election and congratulation to Mr. Obama for wining the Presidency. He is now the 44th POTUS. The first black man to become the president when just about 150 years ago the black is only a slave. The speed of the progress has attract lots of attention from around the world to watch with interest for many harbor the same hope of change.

While Mr Obama intended policies undoubtedly good for Americans, the health care for poor, taxes cut for middle income groups, creating jobs by bringing back to America all the industries that have been relocated overseas. In other word, Obama is the last hope of the American Dream that is left.

What we should concern is not all about his domestic policy, it has nothing to do with us. It is his foreign one that make me little bit worried. what would happen if he really pull back all those troops in Iraq and Afghanistan? Would we the rest of the world be left out in fighting terrorism by ourselves. No matter how much we don't like to admit, USA is the only super power with enough resources to fight Al-Qaeda and is the only thing that North Korea take seriously.

Mr Obama is now facing a difficult time as global economy worsen. Will he triumph and carry his nation out of economy gloom like he promised or will succumb to failure which is bad because as a first black president he'll need to prove his worth. After all, change is something rather easier to say then doing it.

Good luck Mr Obama.

Chua Soi Lek sex scandal will never be forgotten.

Have I all lost my bearing or was it my moral compass doesn’t shared the same polar with the Malaysian Chinese Association. Honestly, last night I was shock to learn that Chua Soi Lek won the second highest post in MCA.

I think he don’t deserve any post. He is an adulterer, he admitted to it and he even resigned from all the posts he held when his video appear in public. Back then, it was the right thing to do. It never been because of the video, it’s because he did it. It was wrong and he knows it and he resigned. It was a common value accepted by all that a leader must be free of all wrong doing, privately and publicly.

It doesn’t matter if a man is capable if his judgments are blemished.

I’ve admired MCA approached. They are open, but yet not too liberal. They’ve tried to become more transparent. Two term rule for presidency to give chances for a new generation to bring in new ideas is an excellent example. I’m hoping other parties will follow soon. But now it’s back to square one again. By allowing leaders who exited in disgrace manner to return will not make it more liberal. It wills only bringing back the old agendas, it’s a step back and not a progress.

Not just a little bit too much, just too much!

It was the biggest joke when Shah Rukh Khan is announced as one of the receivers of the Datukship. Come on! What going on here? Try to do your own survey, ask around among your friends; is he worthy of the Datukship? Or is it means nothing nowadays and that a Dato’ can be given so freely to anybody.

I restrain myself from commenting on the subject of Datukship awards out of the respect to the Rulers right. I have try to make up some rational and concluded that I have to accept the fact that Nicol David, despite of how young she is, deserve a Datukship, and now she is Datuk Nicol David because of her reputation as world no. 1 in her respective sport, Squash. Even though I assume not many of us know or have any interest in it. But the rest is too much, its pokes me and I’m finding it hard not to laugh.

It really tickles me when I heard that Lee Chong Wei is also being awarded because of his performance in Olympic, and seriously, I thought 2nd places are the biggest loser.

Our Angkasawan got his title basically by entering a competition. I envy him for being the luckiest Malaysian. He won the first place and the price winner is 10 days trip to International Space Station with all expanses including 6 months training in Russia, paid by our tax money. A Datukship is an added bonus for doing well on television and he is now Datuk Dr Sheikh Muszaphar Shukor.

In serious note, it is a shame when some states are trying to restrain and limited their Datuk awards to give it some value, the other seem doesn’t care. 77 Dato’ this year for such a small state like Malacca doesn’t seem right. I hope this wont spark a trend, I mean if Shah Rukh Khan is acceptable, then why not Tom Cruise or Angelina Jolie for that matter.

PM in waiting

It is a big relief for UMNO members upon hearing that theirs president will not defend his post. It is a big relief for all Malaysian indeed, because we’ll be get rid of the most ineffective Prime Minister of all time.

Now all eyes are on Najib for this is crucial time to show how capable he is to lead. These last few months will be his show to run. Let us all sit back and watch how he’ll manage to juggle in
between being DPM and PM-in-waiting, both has a different role and rules to follow. He can’t afford to appear weak or depending on his boss advices all the time, but then again he also cannot be seeing as insubordinate because he is still a deputy.

On the top of all that, Najib is still required to contest for the post comes this March in party’s election. Tengku Razaleigh is also eying for the post and even though I believe he have no chance to win if he decided to go ahead and stand in the election, but it is still indicating that UMNO is still divided.

Beside that, the thread from opposition is still imminence. By now all Malaysian know how desperate Anwar is to become PM. He is a man with to much to lose if his plans fail. I’ll be expecting more to come from him.

The RAHMAN theory is almost proven right, its all now rest on Najib performances to material.

We all know how politics are. Boy! This will be fun to watch.

28 September 2008

A political play or childish game?

The much talk about power transition plan is depends on one point of view, for me, I quite agree with Tengku Razaleigh, and the scene of two adults playing child games of mine and yours is disgusting to see, especially when our life is on the line.

The second UMNO Supreme Council meetings with regard of power transition plan, our PM still haven’t decided if he was going to defend his presidency. He’ll let us know by Oct. 9. But in this meeting, they are all agreed to postpone the AGM to next March but not the Division Meeting. Why?

I think our PM is trying to buy some times for himself. I’m not a mind reader, but by now everybody would have guess the same like mine. By postponing his decision, he’ll be able to see how much supports he actually had. If he has enough votes to defend, he’ll do it. If DPM got more votes then him, its will be Plan-B, he got a very long time to go for hunting trip and he carries big bags of baits. In the event he did not get enough votes and cannot defend his presidency, he’ll try to negotiate his way to stay on because no where in the book that say PM must be UMNO president.

Anyway its goes I actually get sick by what is happening, the spinning gets louder everyday.

Selamat Hari Raya

It is a time to forgive and to forget, Its time to be merry, time to visit old friends and long-time-no-see relatives. It is special because in this time around, we all have excuses to come froward and ask for forgiveness from our loved ones. Even from those whom we don't really like, just walk over and shake hands casually, all is understood. Ours is unique culture.

So with this intentions I'm writing this tribute.

I'm wishing all Selamat Hari Raya! Maaf zahir dan batin. Drive carefuly for we have 1 month of Shawal to celebrate. It is the busiest time on the road, but if everybody extend the Hari Raya spririt to the way we drive, there will be no unpleasent incident.

The falling of the government.

If one were to watch the current political situation in Malaysia, one would wonder when it will reach the bottom. It has been falling to lowest point so far and it keeps falling and the bottom of the pit hasn’t even appeared yet. I guess this is the true meaning of the word ‘bottomless’.

If in detaining Tan Hoon Cheng because of her reporting what was said by Ahmad Ismail, then the same rational should be used to detain Mohd Khir instead of Teresa Kok. Is it because the two is from UMNO then they were spared?

The act of police is always reflected back to the government and the use of ISA by all mean showed only its political nature. I have no idea what was the government hope to achieve in doing so. Funny thing is when Syed Albar tried to reasoning the Tan Hoon Cheng arrest is for her own safety. The police should just provide her with protection if her life was threatened similar to the treatment received by Mohd Saiful. He should know better that ISA are mean for National Security only and the reason given is just unacceptable.

I first thought it is a political strategy by Barisan Nasional, but it was so dumb I would call it a political suicide. What ever hope left in Barisan Nasional is gone now until we have somebody else at the top to replace Abdullah.

Barisan Nasional government now is like ‘retak menanti belah’ (crack that would break). It is evidence that UMNO is responsible for all that happening and did not even consult other component parties. It is obvious when MCA, GERAKAN, and even Samy Vellu are voicing their disappointment. How could a coalition of parties work as a government if only one of them have the power? May be this is a sign of failure, thus desperate time always brought desperate measure.

Something ought to be done immediately. Our system is not to be blame. It has work fine during other Prime Ministers. Dr. Mahathir is right, Abdullah just not fit enough or smart enough to be let ruling for much longer, he is on the borrowed time. It is up to UMNO members to determine the fate of their party, to be champion of their own race like what they are doing now, or choose to remove Abdullah and put somebody of worthy leader of all Malaysians.

10 September 2008

9/11

This month of September will always bring back the memories of an attack on America that will forever changed the course of our fate, no matter where we live or what we do.

2974 life is lost on that day (not including the terrorist hijackers) and 411 of them is rescue workers who rushed to the scene to help and they are now will always be remembered as heroes for the heroic acts they’ve committed on that day. Americans as well the rest of the world morn for such terror should never be happen in the first place. Peoples feel insecure, how is going to work to earn a living can kill you.

For many, it was like watching a movie, it was so surreal and out of this world, a fiction may be. But it happened. The Al-Qaeda had only achieved one thing and it is the prove of their distorted believe has nothing to do with Islam. They are also responsible for woman and children who died in Afghanistan and Iraq when U.S.A declared a war on terrorism.

I am deeply trouble by the fact that Al-Qaeda is using Islam as its reason for all the terror they did. There are many voices in the west who publicly accused Islam as violent religion, but I’m also glad that there are many who have showed more interest in understanding Islam for it is hard to believe that this religion is promoting violent.

7 years has passed, but the wound would never heal, the scar will always be there. The only consolation we can hope for is that terrorism will lose its supports for nobody in his right mind would agree with what they’ve done.

For those who died on that day, may Allah bless your soul.

To the 411 Heroes from various rescue departments in New York City, you’ll have my biggest respect and I admired your courage.

To the 19 terrorists who died, you’ll be burn in hell for murdering innocent by standers.

Ahmad Ismail, Najib and Abdullah

Ahmad Ismail is a small politician, in fact he is just a Mr. Nobody and he is stupid too. Ketua Bahagian in Umno doesn’t have any role in administration of Barisan Nasional. His racist remark is uncalled for, but then again who is he? If he does uttered that remark, then Umno should have deal and be done with that already and spare us of all the nonsense happening now.

But Umno is weak. Instead of showing a true leadership quality, the President lack of actions is unbelievable, and to think of that, the Prime Minister is also from Umno Penang, what a coincident. The Vice President made the matter worse because by apologizing, he actually confirmed the incident did took place. So Ahmad Ismail should be tearing the picture of Najib instead of Koh Tsu Koon. The whole episode had a similarity with wathcing The Tree Stooges on tv.

Penang Umno is always the odd ones. When Barisan lost the state they even asked Federal Government to reconsider the mega projects that has been planed for Penang. It showed how their mind works and it is bad. Political parties are there for people, not the other way around. With the current affair, they have no chance at all to captured back Penang.

Now we shall wait and see what Umno Supreme Council will decide to solve the issue. However, it is a little bit too late I think.

29 August 2008

Between a rock and the hard place.

Anwar won the election. This time with a bigger margin then his wife did last time. So Dr. Mahathir has been right all this time in his assessment that Barisan Nasional had lost its popularity and in delusional state now, some things had to be done immediately.

One of them is to remove Mr. Abdullah from his office. I am not expecting him to resign soon, but I do think that he will faces some tough time ahead with new opposition leader. He is a weak Prime minister. He never stands by what he said. He said there will be no General Election in the near future, but the next day he dissolved the Parliament. He said that there will be no review on fuel price until end of the month and soon after he revised the price. If a man cannot be measured by what he said, what is left of him then?

I’m shock that Umno blamed the tactics used by Pakatan Rakyat. They claim it scared away their supporters from casting the vote. Ridiculous! If they had the strong back up by the peoples in the first place, they’ll win because the vote is secret. Nobody knows who you vote for.

Now, I admit that I do not fancy Anwar to become Prime Minister, I think he is dangerous. I just could not help but noticing that he'll do what ever it take to accomplished the ambition of becoming next Prime Minister. But then again who is not, I’m convinced that all politicians are corrupted. The longer they are in politic, the more corrupted they will become. It reminded me of a quote from a superhero movie “Heroes will eventually get corrupted unless they die first.” It is true judging by what happened around us now.

Look like I’ve to wait a little longer for the chances to experience the voting process, because now there is nobody that is worth my vote.

B.P.R

Our Anti Corruption Agency is doing very good job recently. If there is a good thing that happen during this current government, it is the freedom enjoyed by A.C.A. Suddenly we are flooded with news of captured head of government department, police officers, politicians, businessman, etc. Surely it gave impression that Malaysia is corrupted nation, but it also shown that A.C.A are doing their job, minus fear or favor.

In facts, this is the only good news we can read in newspaper nowadays, to know that the corrupted people will be put in jail.

Keep up the good works guys.

Mission accomplish!

Its done. Michael Phelps came to Beijing to took part in 8 Olympic events and gone home with 8 Olympic gold medals, 7 new World Records and 1 Olympic Record.

He is now officially the grandest of all Olympians, 14 Olympic gold all together. There is no word to describe this phenomenon. Last time his home town, Baltimore had a street named after him for bringing 6 golds back home, what would they named after him now that he got 8?

It is simply amazing!

16 August 2008

Mohd Saiful and Anwar Ibrahim

So now he finally come out from hiding.

Yesterday Mohd Saiful decided to swear with Quran like what Perlis Mufti recommended and like what he promised to do. Even though the timing seem perfect for political maneuver, but he insisted that it was not political matter. How is this relevant is up to individual. For Muslim, it is not a small matter. If he is consciously lying with Quran on his hand, may Allah curses him and he shall received severe punishment in his life time and at Judgment Day. But in the eye of civil justice system, it bore no effects at all.

Anwar in other hand, also refer the case to shariah judiciary with advantage on his side because Saiful have to provide 4 witness to prove his accusation. Very strange requirements but the original purpose is to avoid false accusations because in shariah laws the punishment is indeed severe. Sodomy acts is punished with stoned to death, so of course we wouldn't want to kill anybody without enough evident and witnesses. But, even if Saiful fail to provide 4 witnesses to prove his case in shariah court, it mean nothing to civil court.

But why both of them bring this case to shariah when it is already being investigated by police under common laws? Only both of them have the answer.

Who's accusation carry more weight?

Only God know.

14 August 2008

Olympic

Micheal Phelps won 6 gold in 6 evens he took part, in the same time make 6 new world records. What an amazing achievement! With 12 gold medals so far, making him the most successful Olympian ever and set his name in history book. We should go and see how he manage this. There is somethings for us to learn here.

Now, Malaysian has been promised of RM 1 million for gold winner and so far it has not bring us any yet. There has been serious flaw in our mindset. Not everything can be bought with money. Our government can promise 10 millions if they want to because in reality the odd is just not in ours side. I'm patriotic, I want to see Malaysia in medal tally. But our sports has coming from bad to worse lately and had only ourselves to blamed.

May be we're mixing to much of politics with sports. All the organization have Dato' or Tan Sri as chairmen, reason is they need someone to influences the decisions maker! I've no idea what that mean, may be no influences mean no funds from the government.

Sports should promote fighting spirits, never give-up mentality. Monetary gift or rewards is welcomes but should not be main concern. Nevertheless athletes should not be deprived of they privileges. Special diet, high tech training equipments are expensive, money is needed most in this area. We should be spending in developing the athletes, not just at the finish line.

I don't have a solution for our problems, but hope 1 day we'll produces our own Micheal Phelps, but today, Lee Chong Wei is the only hope we had on gold. Lets hope he'll maintain his performance and his cool so at least Malaysia get to be in the list of medal winner.

12 August 2008

By Election

Here we go again. Once more its that time again, the time when some of us who is not lucky enough have to go out and vote again. This time though, it is not because their elected representative died before the end of term, but because their MP think her husband can do better then her.

It is a noble things to do if her main thought was for her peoples, to give them her best even if it mean to sacrifice her office. But here the things, why did she contested in the first place if she knew she is not the best candidate? Here one more thing, it cost peoples money to run election. To do it again less then 6 months after general election is totally waste of money.

Slowly Malaysian democracy has becomes family legacy, the stages are luring. To be portrait as victim of unjust system while at the same time creating a new political dynasty with millions of Dollars pouring in as backup not a bad idea at all.

10 August 2008

Bar Council

I understand why Muslims disagree to the forum on Conversation to Islam by Bar Council being held openly for public. However I do not agree with the use of force to put it to stop. Islam, nowadays has been constantly attack from many front. Lies and deceptions are not new weapon, it has been fought for centuries. If once we loose our self to the temptation of using force against words of lies, we'll surely lost the battle. The words of lies become the truth. Islam will be seen as aggressive religion with no regards toward other opinions.

Islam is the way of life, not just religion we practice in certain places or occasions. If you're born Muslim and had a fair of education in Islamic teaching, you'll never regret of who you are. In fact, like me, proud to be Muslim. There are things you must do, can do and there are things that you can't do. Like, you cannot leave or converted to other religion for example.

A person who want to embrace Islam should be told that this is one way ticket, there is no way back should things go wrong or not like what they expects. They should accept it as God wills like Muslims does.

When you die as Muslim, the community or authority has a duty to see that you'll received proper burial. Why would we want to snatch non-muslim body? When the family members of the decease fail to accept that you're Muslim our duty just wont cease.

Because our Founding Fathers know that Islam is the way of our life, that it is not possible to separate our religion from what we perceived in our life, they put in the constitution that no civil court has right over Islamic matter. For 50 years we are happy with it, now it is raised in a manner of our opinion being invasive and disrespect by civil lawyers who is in the first place has no say in Islamic affair.

May be Bar council is testing the water, how deep it goes depending on how much resistance it received. To champions the peoples cause does not necessary be open fare unless it is trying to gain popularity. And what is Bar Council want to do with popularity? It is not supposed to be political, it is supposed to monitor the integrity of lawyers. Lawyer are professionals in making their boss or people who paid them, absolutely right in the eye of laws. Because justice is blind, it all about how good your lawyer is. Lawyers can also become lobbyist, but to let the Bar Council to taken that role is degrading.
